Life as a sojourner, an alien, an immigrant or a stranger is a life full of tales and tests. It is like living in a no man’s land and one is bound to face uncertainties, trials and unforeseen circumstances. Like we all know life itself is a test but I chose to write about life as a stranger for a certain reason. And I will speak from my perspective and within the scope of religious beliefs. I have always had this in mind but something propelled me to write about it. Coming from Africa, a land that has been enslaved and still living in the shackles of slavery but purely mentally I will say. Though it can’t all be limited to mental slavery but like I said I will keep it things with the range of my discussion within the spiritual and religious belief. And even within the spiritual aspect of it I will be speaking from the Christian perspective. Most at times we Africans complain about the colonial era and the effects of slavery, we have always associated that with our present misfortunes both on governmental levels, educational, economical, etc.
But then here comes the bomb shell and the truth that has being hidden or the truth that we have always rejected and refuse to see. We Africans are mostly responsible for our problems, we fail to do things right, we fail to see things clearly, we reject the truth most at times knowingly or unknowingly. Maybe because it was hidden from us, maybe because of the long suffering or maybe because we just don’t accept it. We have the chance to grow but we trodden it down for reasons best known to us, I personally came to understand that we hardly encourage others who are doing better than ourselves but instead we try to lord ourselves over them. But this is one point I will like to make clear, as immigrants we have a chance to create change and have change or to remain the same as always. We criticize the Europeans for bringing in a foreign religion to us and then stole away our resources, but I came to understand that they simply got blessed because they were willingly to spread the Gospel to unbelievers. Unlike us who feel ashamed of the Gospel, to preach it and to speak out but rather we in China ( Guangzhou) particularly chose to reverse back to witchcraft, sorcery, divination, charm making and bearing. Worst of it all we even left the little knowledge we know about God and dived into other forms of idol worship. To make matters worse we even started teaching such things to the locals themselves and even formed an alliance with other foreigners who have strange and unknown idols that can neither save nor bless. Some even rise up to prevent those we are willing to speak out, they create underground occult and secret societies to threaten and war those that are willing to speak out against their deeds, they go further to blackmail, bewitch, torment and enslave others who do not join them. They create the same colonial order that they criticize the Europeans for. Now we wonder why we are being treated badly or why things are difficult and so different now, we wonder why there is no peace. My answer is that the favor of God that was with us is now fading, my opinion is that because we have left God He too has left us to carter for ourselves. Since we chose to be gods to ourselves and chose to lord ourselves over others then we must also chose to bear the repercussion. Isaiah 5 vs 8 15 Woes and Judgments8 Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land. 9 The Lord Almighty has declared in my hearing: “Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants. 10 A ten-acre vineyard will produce only a bath[a] of wine; a homer[b] of seed will yield only an ephah [c] of grain.” 11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine. 12 They have harps and lyres at their banquets, pipes and timbrels and wine,
but they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord, no respect for the work of his hands.
13 Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; those of high rank will die of hunger and the common people will be parched with thirst. 14 Therefore Death expands its jaws,
opening wide its mouth; into it will descend their nobles and masses with all their brawlers and revelers. 15 So people will be brought low and everyone humbled, the eyes of the arrogant humbled. 16 But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts. 17 Then sheep will graze as in their own pasture; lambs will feed[d] among the ruins of the rich. 18 Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes, 19 to those who say, “Let God hurry; let him hasten his work so we may see it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel-- let it approach, let it come into view, so we may know it.” 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe,
but deny justice to the innocent. 24 Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust;
for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore the Lord’s anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised. 26 He lifts up a banner for the distant nations, he whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Here they come, swiftly and speedily!
27 Not one of them grows tired or stumbles, not one slumbers or sleeps; not a belt is loosened at the waist, not a sandal strap is broken. 28 Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung;
their horses’ hooves seem like flint, their chariot wheels like a whirlwind. 29 Their roar is like that of the lion, they roar like young lions; they growl as they seize their prey and carry it off with no one to rescue. 30 In that day they will roar over it like the roaring of the sea. And if one looks at the land,
there is only darkness and distress; even the sun will be darkened by clouds.
Some chose to be invincible, by transforming into cats and choose to make their fortifications in the mountains others claim to have made pacts with death. But the bible said in Isaiah 28:15 You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood[b] our hiding place.” 16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.
17 I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it.
19 As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through. The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.
The last time I wrote about a thing like this they made sure my number was blocked because many see it as threat to their reign but no kingdom can withstand that of God and He said in Psalm 149 Praise the Lord.[a] Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. 4 For the Lord takes delight in his people: he crowns the humble with victory. 5 Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, 9 to carry out the sentence written against them— this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.
With this I put down my pen and rest my head with a good news to those who might find it in their hearts to seek God even when it is difficult and even when we are unable to stand on our own. But to trust and have faith in the grace of God instead of relying on our own power or righteousness which can not save us. Klynch
